Fall and More..
With Fall time outside we keep exploring the season as well as the vocabulary.
Math
Last time we started looking at values: MORE ... Today we spent quite a bit of time practicing and understanding what it means to have MORE of something. Comparing sizes, big and small, as well as colors was another activity we had a lot of fun doing. Peg board is a huge help in developing those skills and this is always a win-win as kids love them a lot!
Russian
We did a few group and individual activities to practice writing skills (white boards and individual assignments). We also did some morning dance to shake things up, did a bit of reading-and-writing, ready a story. We also learnt some interesting things about hedgehogs - what they eat, what they do in winter and where they live.. We finished with another fun craft - a hedgehog!!!
Parents Tip: Ignore the naysayers
Some people, even those who are otherwise well-educated, may warn that your child will become “confused” or suffer other hardships when learning two languages at once. Don’t let such comments deter you. At the same time, take people’s prescriptions with a grain of salt. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to families raising bilingual children. In my case, I’m eager to hear about others’ successful experiences—because maybe I can adopt or adapt those strategies for my own family—but only I can really decide what’s appropriate for my particular situation.
