Fall and Colors -Listopad
As it’s getting prettier outside with all the leaves changing colors, it’s getting more colorful in our classroom!
Math
It was a truly fall calls today. We counted with leaves, learned a new color -orange with pumpkin coloring and individual assignments. To spice things up we did some dancing, solved puzzles and had a funny ‘pair the socks’ competition. By matching the socks our little learners practiced patterns, visuals and keeping attention.
Russian
The letter of the day is Ыы.. sometimes it is challenging for kids to pronounce it right as there is no similar sound in English. In the next few weeks we will be doing a lot of activities that will help us to develop this unusual sound :-) And for now, we learned how ho to write this letter as well as shape it with the play dough time.
Oh, and we finished with the Zoo trip!! It helped us learn new vocabulary . Since we couldn’t really get to the animals we got a few animals to our classroom!
Tips for Parents:
Ignore the naysayers!! Some people, even those who are otherwise well-educated, may warn that your child will become “confused” or suffer other hardships when learning two languages at once. Don’t let such comments deter you. At the same time, take people’s prescriptions with a grain of salt. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to families raising bilingual children. In my case, I’m eager to hear about others’ successful experiences—because maybe I can adopt or adapt those strategies for my own family—but only I can really decide what’s appropriate for my particular situation.
