Who Lives in Your Family?
Family and family members was the vocabulary focused topic for this week. It was amazing to see how much love and devotion our little learners put into the pictures of their mommies and daddies, brothers and sisters and oh, how could I forget - cas and dogs sometimes too!
Math
We did a few activities for fine motor skills as well as practicing Adding (3+1, 7+3, etc). The goal was to make sure that the kids not only understand this simple math function and how it works, but also learn to recognize/reproduce simple vocabulary.
Russian
Letter Шш in all its 'beauty'!! We had so much fun writing, playing puzzle and building our letters from Play Dough.
Parents Tip:
This is not easy to raise a bilingual child - it's hard work, people! Especially now when some of our little learners start school and dive in English speaking environment only. OK, calm down and..
1- do not give up! Even if the child refuses to speak Russian with you, keep speaking Russian to him/her
2-value bilingualism! This is a great advantage your child will carry through life which many people don't have
3-maximize exposure to the second language! Whether this is reading bed time stories, watching cartoons ir educational programs, playing games - your child must BE in the second language environment.
Happy learning!
